Under the auspices of the AWCBC, the Chief Financial Officers of the Boards and Commissions of Canada manage an ongoing project to develop a set of key financial and statistical indicators which can be used to describe the workers’ compensation insurance system in Canada overall, and to provide comparisons across jurisdictions.
In addition to the Key Statistical Measures (KSMs) and Indicator Ratios which are currently published, others are still under development. The developmental work is carried out by a Working Group reporting to the Chief Financial Officers, and includes representation from each jurisdiction. The activities of the Working Group focus on developing methods/definitions which each Board and Commission can apply in order to ensure, as far as possible, comparability across jurisdictions.
All jurisdiction's statistics are validated in accordance with agreed upon Definitions (which may vary from definitions used in jurisdictions' annual reports).
The Key Statistical Measures Data Tables contain a complete set of KSMs for all jurisdictions by year. These tables contain such measures as Injury Frequency, Percentage Funded, and Average Assessment Rates. The Data Tables contain extensive footnotes which describe factors to help interpret the data.
The Dynamic Graph allow users to choose from a list of KSMs and Indicator Ratios to create customized graphs.
Customized Data Tables can be generated selecting the KSMs (or Indicator Ratios), years and jurisdictions of interest.
The Preface Reports show some of the differences between workers’ compensation jurisdictions that can be contributing factors to the KSMs and Indicator Ratios.
